Greenhouse Gas Inventory

Greenhouse gas reduction is an important method for mitigating climate change and global warming. Greenhouse gas inventory allows for the identification of carbon emissions hotspots within business operations. Based on this information, effective measures and strategies can be assessed and implemented to achieve carbon reduction goals, the risk assessment categorizes this as a low-risk scenario. The scope of greenhouse gas inventory for our company includes six operational locations of Chipbond Technology in Taiwan. The organizational boundaries are set based on operational control, encompassing facilities managed or operated under our company. Prior to 2020, the greenhouse gas inventory data was obtained through internal inventory. Starting from 2021, we have engaged SGS Taiwan for third-party verification of the inventory data in accordance with the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard for greenhouse gas verification.Detailed information is compiled as follows.

Accorind to the result of 2022 GHG inventory:

  • Category 1 (Direct Emissions) accounts for approximately 3.52% of the total greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Category 2(Inirect Emissions)accounts for approximately 76.20% of the total greenhouse gas emissions. It is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions for our company.
  • Category 3 and 4(Other Inirect Emissions)accounts for approximately 20.28% of the total greenhouse gas emissions.

Overall, our greenhouse gas emissions (Category 1 + Category 2) in 2022 amounted to 162,677.1453 metric tons of CO2e. Due to our continuous implementation of energy-saving measures, the total emissions decreased by 5.04% compared to the previous year. However, the greenhouse gas emission intensity increased by 7.11% compared to the previous year. This increase is primarily attributed to economic fluctuations in the latter half of the year.

Energy Usage

Our energy usage primarily consists of purchased electricity, self-generated renewable energy, gasoline, diesel, and natural gas, with purchased electricity being the main source of energy.

In 2022, the total energy consumption was 1,101,287.345(GJ), representing a decrease of 3.06% compared to the previous year. However, the energy intensity, which measures energy usage per unit of output or activity, increased by 9.35% during the same period.

In terms of electricity usage, purchased electricity accounted for 1,099,748.4192 GJ, which is 99.86% of the total energy consumption. Self-generated renewable energy accounted for 57.6 GJ, representing 0.0052% of the total energy consumption.

Overall, the electricity intensity 45.8059 GJ. This represents a decrease of 10.97% compared to the baseline year (in the baseline year of 2015, the electricity intensity was 51.4513 GJ per million units of revenue).

In order to Respond to government's development of renewable energy and reduce the environmental impact of greenhouse gas emissions, our company continues to install solar power generation equipment on the rooftops of various plants. We are gradually fulfilling our obligations as an energy user by incorporating renewable energy sources. In February 2022, the Guangfu Plant completed the installation of a 46.23 kWp rooftop solar power generation system. By the end of the year, the usage of renewable energy had reached 16,000 kWh (57.6 GJ).In 2023, we will continue to expand our solar power generation systems and are planning to install an additional capacity of approximately 3,300 kWp. When combined with the existing solar power capacity of 681.77 kWp in the exhibition plant, our total capacity is expected to exceed 4,000 kWp once it is converted for self-consumption.
