Air Pollution Management

Due to the characteristics of Chipbond's manufacturing processes, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are the main air pollutants generated. The Company's air pollution control strategy prioritizes source management, implemented through comprehensive procedures such as the EHS Impact and Risk Assessment, EHS Change Management, and New Chemical Introduction Review. These measures help assess the potential for replacing raw materials to reduce VOC emissions. Additionally, high-efficiency treatment equipment is employed to remove pollutants from exhaust gases, ensuring that the final discharged pollutants comply with or are below regulatory standards. The Kuangfu Plant implemented and began operation of a zeolite concentrator rotor thermal oxidation system in 2023. The Lixing Plant followed suit in 2024 with planning, installation, and operating permit applications, aiming for activation in 2025 to enhance overall emission treatment capacity. The operation of all air pollution prevention equipment of Chipbond is incorporated into the central monitor system which is maintained by the assigned responsible personnel. The personnel on-duty implements the 24-hour strict monitoring. The changes of all operating conditions are monitored. To avoid the abnormal exhaust emission due to the equipment failure, the air pollution prevention equipment of all plants is equipped a backup system with emergency power. Thus, it can be ensured that the backup system is able to substitute for operation if the equipment failed, in order to reduce the possibility of abnormal pollutant emission. Currently, the air pollution control equipment at all plants of the Company is functioning reliably. Daily records of the equipment's operation are maintained, and pollution source testing is conducted regularly as required by regulations. The Company is committed to the aforementioned air pollution management efforts. The dedicated air pollution control personnel at the Kuangfu Plant were recognized for outstanding performance by the Hsinchu County Government and received the award for "Outstanding Personnel in Air Pollution Control Performance Assessment for the Year 2024".
