Greenhouse Gas Inventory

Greenhouse gas reduction is an important method for mitigating climate change and global warming. Greenhouse gas inventory allows for the identification of carbon emissions hotspots within business operations. Based on this information, effective measures and strategies can be assessed and implemented to achieve carbon reduction goals, the risk assessment categorizes this as a low-risk scenario. The scope of greenhouse gas inventory for our company includes six operational locations of Chipbond in Taiwan. The organizational boundaries are set based on operational control, encompassing facilities managed or operated under our company. Prior to 2020, the greenhouse gas inventory data was obtained through internal inventory. Starting from 2021, we have engaged SGS Taiwan for third-party verification of the inventory data in accordance with the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard for greenhouse gas verification. Detailed information is compiled as follows.

Accorind to the result of 2023 GHG inventory:

  • Category 1 (Direct Emissions) accounts for approximately 4.52% of the total greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Category 2(Inirect Emissions)accounts for approximately 74.84% of the total greenhouse gas emissions. It is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions for our company.
  • Category 3 and 4(Other Inirect Emissions)accounts for approximately 20.64% of the total greenhouse gas emissions.

Overall, our Category 1 and Category 2 greenhouse gas emissions in 2023 totaled 154,260.2255 metric tons of CO2e, reflecting a 2.61% decrease from the previous year due to the company's ongoing implementation of energy-saving and carbon-reduction initiatives.

Energy Usage

Our energy usage primarily consists of purchased electricity, self-generated renewable energy, gasoline, diesel, and natural gas, with purchased electricity being the main source of energy.

In 2023, the total energy consumption was 1,061,529.7305 GJ, reflecting a 3.61% decline from the previous year, with an energy intensity of 52.9273 GJ. 。

In order to respond to government's development of renewable energy and reduce the environmental impact of greenhouse gas emissions, our company continues to install solar power generation equipment on the rooftops of various plants. We are gradually fulfilling our obligations as an energy user by incorporating renewable energy sources. In 2023, the renewable energy usage of the rooftop solar power generation equipment of Kuangfu Plant has reached 34,000 kilowatt hours (122.4GJ). The solar power generation system is set to expand in 2024, with an anticipated additional capacity of 3,040 kWp. Once the Zhanye plant's current solar power generation capacity of 681.77kWp is repurposed for self-use, it will exceed 3,700 kWp in the future.
